Why You Need a Vision Board

I’ve been so deep in the trenches of mom life, I’ve lost sight of my own dreams.

This has been a cruel awakening for me in the last year.

I’ve recently rediscovered vision boards.

If you’re craving clarity, inspiration, or just a reason to not keep strolling and start feeling excited about something that isn’t your bed, here’s your sign.

What Is a Vision Board?

At its core, a vision board is a visual representation of your dreams, goals, and the life you want to create. Think of it as your soul’s Pinterest board, brought to life with affirmations, inspiring quotes, photos, or even glittery chaos (if that’s your thing – no judgment).

You can go old school and make one using a corkboard, poster, and real magazine cutouts, or you can even create one digitally (check out some canva templates here).

Why Vision Boards Actually Work

When you create a vision board, you’re engaging something called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) – basically the brain’s filter that starts noticing opportunities aligned with your goals.

You start focusing on what you want, instead of what you lack. And that shift in energy is everything.

Plus, when you walk past your board 47 times a day, it keeps your dreams in sight (literally).

Manifestation isn’t magic. It’s momentum. A vision board reminds you that your dreams matter – even when your day is filled with nappies, Netflix, and negotiating with a 4-year-old over whether pajamas are “outside clothes.”

How to Make a Vision Board

1. Set an intention: What do you want your life to feel like in 6–12 months? Who do you want to become?
2. Gather materials: Grab magazines, scissors, glue – or just open Canva.
3. Choose your words and images: Be bold. Be specific. Be wildly you.
4. Display it: Put it where you’ll see it daily.

Want a shortcut? I’ve made a free digital vision board template in Canva just for moms like you.

Final Thoughts

Vision boards aren’t about having it all figured out. They’re about saying: “I’m ready for more.”
More purpose. More passion. More joy. More alignment.
Even if you’re doing it with a messy bun and a toddler trying to climb your leg.

Start dreaming again. You’re worth it.
